Mom attacks school bus driver who brought her kids home an hour late, Nevada police say
A mother has been arrested after she was accused of striking a bus driver in the face four times when he brought her kids home an hour late, Nevada police told media outlets.
The 37-year-old mother was arrested after attacking her children’s school bus driver on Aug. 17, police told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. News outlets reported new details on the case have recently been released.
The bus driver was about an hour behind schedule, according to the news outlet. The driver had to pull over multiple times to regain control of the kids on his way back from a school in Henderson.
Surveillance video obtained by KSNV shows a woman entering the bus and yelling at the driver.
She was was arrested on charges of battery on a protected person, child abuse neglect, destruction of property, interfering with a student from attending school and burglary of a motor vehicle, officials told KSNV.
The Clark County School District did not respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment.
A similar incident happened the next day. On Aug. 18, a man was arrested after he was accused of assaulting a different bus driver in Clark County.
The manwas accused of attacking the bus driver after he refused to take his daughter to school, police told FOX 5. Police told the news outlet the man hit the driver multiple times in the face with a closed fist and kicked him to the ground.
“There’s no excuse for any worker to be attacked in any workplace,” Jason Gateley, vice president of Teamsters Local 14, a union that represents over 1,000 school Clark County bus drivers, told the Review-Journal.
The incidents are not related, KSNV reported.
The Clark County School District is about 6 miles southwest of Las Vegas.
