Girl’s screams alert grocery workers to sexual assault in restroom, California cops say
A girl’s screams at a supermarket alerted workers and shoppers who rescued her from a sexual assault in a locked restroom, California sheriff’s officials reported.
Employees burst into the restroom and rescued the girl at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Workers detained the accused attacker, whose name was not released, for deputies, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators are looking for other possible victims.
The man followed the girl into a restroom at Stater Bros. Market in Whittier, then locked the door and tried to sexually assault her, the release said.
The girl was treated at a hospital, deputies said. The man, who was arrested, is behind held on $250,000 bail.

Whittier is a city of 87,000 about 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
