A girl’s screams at a supermarket alerted workers and shoppers who rescued her from a sexual assault in a locked restroom, California sheriff’s officials reported.

Employees burst into the restroom and rescued the girl at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

Workers detained the accused attacker, whose name was not released, for deputies, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators are looking for other possible victims.

The man followed the girl into a restroom at Stater Bros. Market in Whittier, then locked the door and tried to sexually assault her, the release said.
