Child lured from school bus stop and molested, Arizona police say
A man is accused of luring a child from a school bus stop and molesting them, Arizona police said.
Jesus Jorge Delcampo was arrested Thursday, Sept. 8, after DNA identified him as a suspect in the July assault, the Chandler Police Department said on Facebook.
Chandler police responded to a call about child molestation at an apartment complex on July 29, according to police.
After luring the child from the bus stop, the man took the child behind a building and molested them, police said.
Officers learned the man was driving a golf cart, which led police to follow up on certain leads.
“Detectives later conducted a neighborhood canvass in hopes of locating a suspect,” police said.
DNA taken from leads were sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Forensic Lab for testing, police said.
On Wednesday, Sept. 7, results from the testing identified Delcampo, a maintenance worker at an apartment complex, as a suspect, police said.
Delcampo was booked into Maricopa County Jail on charges of child molestation and kidnapping, according to police.
Chandler is about 20 miles southeast of Phoenix.
