Deaf dog plunges 100 feet into steep ravine in California. Watch rescuers rush to help

A deaf dog plunged 100 feet into a steep ravine in California and couldn’t get out — until rescuers stepped in.

Hobo the 8-year-old Australian shepherd slipped and fell into the ravine on Monday, Aug. 29, the San Diego Humane Society said.

He had been walking in thick brush near his home when he tumbled down the ravine. Officials said his owners are in the process of having a fence installed on the Sorrento Valley property.

Rescuers rushed to help Hobo by rappelling down the ravine to reach the dog.

“It then took five members to cut the dog out of the brush with a saw, in order to free him from the brush, before they could get him back up,” the San Diego Humane Society said on Twitter.

Hobo was carried back up the ravine and was safely back home after about four hours, rescuers said.
