Cop says he drank booze before his shift, then crashed on duty, New Orleans police say

A police officer accused of hitting multiple cars while driving drunk on duty was arrested, the New Orleans Police Department says.
The NOPD officer, Denzel Millon, was in a marked car and on duty when he struck multiple vehicles near the intersection of St. Peter and St. Joseph streets in the Eighth District on July 28, according to a statement from the department.
After the accident, the department says the officer informed his supervisor that he had been drinking alcohol before his shift started.
A breathalyzer test showed that Millon’s blood alcohol content was .186%. Driving with a blood alcohol content level of more than .08% is illegal in Louisiana.
The officer was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a roadway laned for traffic, the department says. He then was taken to the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
Millon was suspended on July 28 at 4. a.m., according to the statement. He has been reassigned pending the results of an internal investigation.
