If you squint when first looking at the photos of this unique house on the real estate market in Franklin, Michigan, it sort of looks like an edgy yellow diner with an attached garage. Or perhaps a stagnate monorail.

A four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom residence probably wouldn’t crack your top 10 guesses, but that’s what makes this home, listed for $895,000, so original.

“I’ve never seen something like this before,” listing agent Shadia Martini told Realtor.com.

The home, built in 1977, was designed by award-winning architect Don Paul Young of Young & Young Architects, and has gathered a few different admirers thanks to its shape.

“The design is unique in how [the architect] separated the living area from the bedroom tower and connected them by a bridge,” Martini said to Realtor. “The living space is all horizontal, and the bedroom space is all vertical.”

The interior of the 2,940-square-foot home is as prismatic as the outside, and has some upgrades, including:

  • Primary bath and lower-level bath

  • Carpeting

  • Hardwood floors

  • Windows in bridge

  • Windows in bedroom tower

  • Deck

  • Furnace

  • Two water heaters

  • Air conditioner

  • Dryer

  • Light fixtures

It has an open floor plan, which allows an abundance of light to cascade through.
