Planning a trip to Yellowstone takes lots of planning and preparation — but park officials are thinking you may want to plan way, way ahead.

Yellowstone Forever, the nonprofit branch of the national park, created a new kind of entrance pass that’s valid in 150 years.

The “Inheritance Pass” was created by the nonprofit to celebrate the park’s 150th anniversary.

“With your $1,500 donation, you will receive an Inheritance Pass, valid for a visit in 2172, and a complimentary pass to enjoy the park today, valid for entry in the next year,” the nonprofit said on its website.

The Inheritance Pass will be sent to donors in August and will be valid for use in 2172. The pass will have the person’s name printed on it, and the donor can pass it down to family members to use in the future.

“Most likely one solar-powered flying car’s worth of your future loved ones” can use the pass in 150 years, the nonprofit said.

The pass holder will also receive their complimentary pass in the mail.

The donation goes toward “preservation efforts for the next 150 years,” according to the nonprofit.
