Weed brownies unknowingly brought to senior center, SD cops say. Baker facing charge
A teacher has been arrested after his mother unintentionally brought brownies laced with marijuana to a card game at a South Dakota senior center.
After getting a call about several “possible poisonings,” officials discovered all of the patients were at a local senior center for a card game earlier on Jan. 4, according to an arrest affidavit from the Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Office.
A woman told officers that she brought a pan of brownies her son had baked to the card game. According to the affidavit, officers believe the people who got sick were all under the influence of THC from the brownies.
Her son had been in Colorado the previous week and had brought back THC butter to make the brownies, the affidavit said.
Officers went to Tabor Elementary School and spoke to the 46-year-old, who told them he had baked the brownies with THC butter. After he went to bed, he said his mother unknowingly brought the brownies to the card game, according to the affidavit.
The son, who news outlets report is a teacher with the Bon Homme School District, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Tabor is a town in southeastern South Dakota, about 90 miles from Sioux Falls.
