Mystery surrounds human remains found in burnt vehicle at Minnesota state park, cops say
Officials are working to determine whose body was found inside a burnt vehicle within a Minnesota state park and how that person died.
When deputies responded to Beaver Creek Valley State Park early Wednesday, Jan. 5, they found human remains inside the vehicle, according to a news release from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the person found inside the “completely destroyed” vehicle remains a mystery, though authorities say “we are confident this was an isolated incident.”
The sheriff’s office does not believe there is any threat to the public.
The incident remains under investigation alongside investigators with the Minnesota State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Southeastern Minnesota Medical Examiners Office.
Beaver Creek Valley State Park is in the southeast corner of Minnesota — “nestled in the blufflands” — about 160 miles southeast of Minneapolis.
