U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, called out Oprah Winfrey late Tuesday after comments she made on white privilege on her new Apple TV+ show.

Sharing an article from conservativenews site The Blaze, Cruz tweeted “Billionaire Oprah lectures the rest of us” along with a quote from her the “The Oprah Conversation.”

In a conversation with former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho, Oprah said white Americans have a leg up on people of other races.

“There are white people who are not as powerful as the system of white people — the caste system that’s been put in place — but they still, no matter where they are on the rung, or the ladder of success, they still have their whiteness,” she said, according to The Hill.

“You still have your whiteness. That’s what the term ‘white privilege’ is,” the mogul continued. “It means that whiteness still gives you an advantage, no matter.”

Cruz appeared to disagree with Oprah’s comment. He responded to the quote, “What utter, racist BS.”

The junior senator from the Lone Star State in his second term often does not hold back on Twitter. He and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban recently got into a squabble over kneeling during the national anthem, McClatchy News reported.

Oprah’s Apple TV+ show, “The Oprah Conversation,” debuted July 30. On the show, she will “continue to explore impactful and relevant topics with fascinating thought leaders from all over the world.”
