Mayor, commissioners to hit the stage
Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert and several county commissioners will hit the stage in April to perform for a good cause.
The Macon-Bibb County Follies will return to the Douglass Theatre at 6:30 p.m. April 8. The variety show offers people a chance to showcase their talents through singing, or in many cases lip-syncing, popular hits from days gone by.
Event organizer Commissioner Bert Bivins’ recruiting efforts have paid off as he’s received commitments to perform from the mayor and fellow Commissioners Joe Allen and Larry Schlesinger. Some of the other listed acts are the fire department administration, Coroner Leon Jones, Powersville Opera and Bill & Sue Davis, according to a flier.
The Follies raises money for the Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students, which promotes civic involvement of youths.
Tickets are $15. For more information visit www.maconbibb.us.
