New leader named for Air Force Reserve Command at Robins
WARNER ROBINS -- The Air Force Reserve Command at Robins Air Force Base is getting a new leader.
Maj. Gen. Maryanne Miller has been nominated to the rank of lieutenant general to lead the command, according to a Department of Defense news release.
She will hold the traditional dual titles of chief of the Air Force Reserve, which is headquartered at the Pentagon, and commander of the Air Force Reserve Command at Robins.
Most commanders who have served in that role have been based at the Pentagon. Miller is currently serving as deputy to the chief of the Air Force Reserve. She is taking the place of Lt. Gen. James Jackson, who has served in the role since 2012 and is retiring.
Miller joined the Air Force in 1981 after graduating from Ohio State University. She became a pilot with 4,800 flying hours and has flown the C-141, C-17, C-5 and KC-10.
She also holds a small arms expert marksmanship ribbon and a Kuwait Liberation Medal.
A change of command date has not been announced but is expected to take place in mid July, said Cliff Tyler, spokesman for the AFRC. He said the ceremony will be held at Robins.
Miller will be leading the command during an important transition at Robins. Later this year the command expects to break ground on a new $28 million headquarters building on the south end of the base.
