The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center soon will have a new chief of staff.
The hospital announced Friday that Dr. Christopher D. Blasy will take charge of the center’s clinical operations in September.
Blasy is a 1989 graduate of the Air Force Academy and served six years as an engineer in the Air Force prior to attending medical school at Michigan State University. He completed his residency at Georgetown University in 2002 and operated a solo family medical practice in Maryland.
He moved to Hinesville in 2005 and operated a private practice. In 2010, he took a job at Fort Stewart caring for wounded National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers.
He later became medical director of the Tuttle Army Health Clinic at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah. Last year, he was named chief of staff at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan.
