A local school system’s human resources department was honored at the state level recently.

The Houston County Board of Education Human Resources Department was presented a Platinum Award of Excellence by the Georgia Association of School Personnel Administrators. A Best in Class award for the area of Recruitment Process and Materials was presented on June 2 at the GASPA conference. The Director of Personnel, Dr. Richard Rogers, accepted the plaque on behalf of the district.

A key component of the recruitment campaign was a video featuring Kid Superintendent. This video was created by our Curriculum Integration Specialists and starred Walker Durham, then a fifth grader at Quail Run Elementary School. Walker was chosen as Kid Superintendent after he won the Elementary School Oratorical Contest held in February.
