Houston County names semifinalists for Teacher of the Year

Houston County’s schools have selected their individual 2016-17 Teachers of the Year.

The honorees will be recognized at the system’s Opening Session on July 25 at the Georgia National Fairgroundsin Perry. The 2016-2017 Houston County Teacher of the Year and four finalists will be announced for the first time at Opening Session. The 10 semifinalists are C.B. Watson Primary’s Summer Peavy, Feagin Mill Middle’s Lloyd McDonald, Hilltop Elementary’s LaRae Harrelson, Huntington Middle’s Laurie Coggins, Kings Chapel Elementary’s Robin Martin, Miller Elementary’s Sue McDonald, Mossy Creek Middle’s Kearston Arnold, Northside High’s Janann McSwain, Shirley Hills Elementary’s Ashley Watkins and Veterans High School’s Dave Gibbs.

Northside High School’s Katherine Branch was the 2015-16 Teacher of the Year for Houston County.
