Houston County cadet, teachers honored by Air Force Association
Three individuals in Houston County schools were honored with military-related awards recently.
Thomson Middle School Teacher Terra McMillian has been awarded the Air Force Association Carl Vinson Chapter K-8 STEM Teacher of the Year. In addition, a Warner Robins High School’s Cadet Colonel Andrew Revolt, is the chapter AFJROTC Cadet of the Year. He was nominated by his Warner Robins High School senior aerospace science instructor, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Michael Barrett.
The Air Force Association Carl Vinson Chapter 296 also named Lt. Col. Steve Atkins, from Veterans High School, as the 2016 Georgia Teacher of the Year. His application packet is now under consideration at the national level.
The AFA Teacher of the Year award recognizes classroom teachers for accomplishments and achievements in exciting students about science and math and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow's technologies.
