Midstate teachers selected for governor’s committee

Rutland High School teacher, 2015 District Teacher of the Year and 2016 Georgia Teacher of the Year Finalist Brian Butler was named to serve on Governor Nathan Deal's new Teacher Advisory Committee.

Joining him on the committee are the Academy for Classical Education’s Melia Scott and Monroe County Middle School’s Jessica Price. The committee will review recommendations from the 2015 Education Reform Commission in order to provide feedback and guidance to Deal, legislators and policy-makers, according to a release.

The trio will be among 90 educators statewide to serve on the committee.
