Middle Georgia schools honored for academic progress

Bibb County’s Burdell-Hunt Elementary School and the Houston County Career Academy were recently honored with Gold Awards as Greatest Gains Schools from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement.

The award honors schools with a three-year average in the 97th percentile in the state in Progress Scores on the College and Career Ready Performance Index. For the 2014-15 school year, the most recent data to have been released, Burdell-Hunt earned the maximum 40 Progress points, while the Houston County Career Academy notched 36.6.

The two schools were the only ones in their respective counties honored on the list.
