Stratford math team wins state competition

A group of Stratford Academy students won the state Class A math tournament on April 30.

Team members Om Sakhalkar, Shishir Bandi, Sammy Martin, and Nischal Bandi were coached by math teacher Bobby Stecher. At the state competition, competitors individually complete a 50-question multiple-choice test and a speed round followed by teams working together to complete a set of a dozen problems.

The Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics sponsors the annual state math championship. Schools earn an invitation to the state math tournament based on their performance at other tournaments throughout the state.
