Bibb schools seeking summer meal sites
The Bibb County school district is hosting its summer meal program for the sixth straight year, but sites are still needed.
Part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program, the initiative seeks to make sure that “children throughout the county receive meals during a critical time when school is not in session,” according to a news release. This year, the program will run from June 6 through July 15, and meals and snacks will be provided to qualifying sites free of charge.
To qualify, a site will need to be a physical location including, but not limited to, vacation Bible schools, day camps, parks, libraries, public housing complexes, school playgrounds or even “a shade tree in a neighborhood,” according to the release. In case of rain or extreme temperatures, an alternative location will need to be available.
