Education Notebook: Bibb kindergarten registration underway
Registration for kindergarten in Bibb County schools has already begun and will continue through Thursday.
For the first time, parents are able to preregister their children for kindergarten online at www.bcsdk12.net.
Once the information is processed, schools will work with parents to schedule an appointment for the parent to visit their child's school and complete the registration process May 2-13. Parents will not be required to register a child for kindergarten if they are currently enrolled in a Bibb County school prekindergarten program.
In order to complete the registration process, parents will be required to provide the school with the following information during their scheduled appointment: a certified birth certificate, which shows the child will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2016; a Social Security card; two documents validating proof of residence; an updated certificate of immunization on Form 3231; certificate of dental, vision and hearing screening on Form 3300; and emergency contact information.
Parents who do not have access to the Internet may contact their child's zoned school directly or call 478-765-8600 for assistance.
