Bibb County child care provider receives state grant
A Bibb County child care provider is set to receive more than $8,000 in grant funding from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning.
The Family Engagement Opportunity Grants were awarded to five providers across the state, including Sandy's Sandbox, located on Shurling Drive.
"An effective partnership among families, communities and educators helps lay a solid foundation for children's success in school," DECAL Commissioner Amy Jacobs said in a release.
Sandy's Sandbox is expected to use the funds for initiatives to inform families about "healthy childhood development" while also helping families supplement educational efforts at home. The other providers receiving grants are Prevent Child Abuse Athens, Inc., Gilmer County's Georgia Hope, Emmaus House in Fulton County and Moultrie YMCA.
