Macon Charter board adds three new members

Macon Charter Academy's governing board met again Wednesday, this time adding three more members to its ranks.

That brings the total to six board members after the addition of pharmacist Wade Scott, attorney John Carey and educator Linda Smith.

"This is a very strong and diverse board now," said Chairman Ed Grant.

After naming the new board members, the full board ratified the actions that the three-member board of Grant, Daisy Ross and Joseph Brothers Jr. had taken since being appointed Monday. That included an amendment to the school's charter allowing the school to work with a management company and the resulting contract with Renaissance School Services.

"So we know that everything has been done correctly," Grant said.

The amendment will be up for approval from the Bibb County school board at Thursday's regular meeting.
