Mercer University gets new trustees, academic programs
Mercer University's board of trustees installed nine new members, elected new officers and also approved two new degree programs during its annual homecoming meeting Friday.
The new trustees, which have five-year terms, include William H. Anderson II, Thomas P. Bishop, Dwight Davis, Sarah L. Doyle, Margaret Gill, Robert F. Hatcher Sr., James Thomas McAfee III, Maxine Cynthia Morris and Barbara Brown Taylor.
The board also approved a new master's degree in comparative jurisprudence in the school of law, which is designed to give foreign lawyers both academic and practical training with a focus on international business and trade law.
Another master's degree program, also approved by the board, includes a master's degree in health informatics.
The health informatics program will be "entirely online" and is designed for information technology and healthcare professionals who want to expand their knowledge and skills in the evolving field of health informatics.
The new law program will start being offered in summer 2016, and the health informatics program will be available starting in fall 2016.
