Bibb launches new school bus mobile app

The Bibb County school district has released a new tracking tool for your child's school bus just in time for National School Bus Safety Week.

The new web-based app will allow parents and students to use a computer or smartphone to access their school bus' real-time location, which updates every five seconds.

"This week is an excellent time to teach and reiterate to students and parents simple measures they can take while going to and from the bus stop, getting on and off the bus, and riding in the bus," said Anthony Jackson, Bibb's director of transportation. "It also gives us a chance to thank and honor the professional school bus drivers who devote themselves to transporting our most precious cargo."

The "Versatrans My Stop" app, being provided to the district free of charge, can be downloaded via the app store of your mobile device, according to a school system news release.

Users of the app will only be able to access bus routes after logging in with the student's identification number.
