Houston County schools looking for substitute teachers

People looking to serve as substitute teachers can get their chance in Houston County soon.

The school district will be accepting applications from Aug. 31 through Sept. 8 for candidates with at least an associate degree or equivalent education, along with appropriate certification. The pay for those with at least a bachelor’s degree is $9.62 an hour, while all others will be paid $8.79 an hour.

Lesson plans will be provided by the regular teacher.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online. Documentation of qualifications must be provided to verify requirements are met and should be uploaded as part of the application. Once selected, substitutes will attend an orientation and complete a fingerprinting background check at a cost of $60.
