Peach County High School’s power was restored Monday afternoon, hours after students and staff were notified Monday morning of the school’s closure due to a power outage.

The high school’s closure was due to a power outage that expected to last “for an extended period,” the district said in a Facebook post. But school officials have confirmed that the school’s power has been restored and classes will resume as usual on Tuesday.

District spokesperson Marla Sellers the Fort Valley Utility Commission notified school officials Monday morning that services were expected to be restored by noon.

“The power has been restored at Peach County High School, and school will resume as usual tomorrow,” Sellers told The Telegraph.

Sellers added that the outage was discovered after the school’s cafeteria workers arrived to work Monday morning.

Monday’s school closure only applies to the Peach County High School, the district said. Other schools’ operational hours have continued as normal.
