Many free back-to-school events to kick off soon in Macon, Middle Georgia. Where?
Back-to-school season is just around the corner for Middle Georgia students — and so are the giveaways.
Several local events are kicking off as early as next week, offering free school supplies, food, haircuts and more to help families gear up for the new year.
Students in the Houston County School District return to class July 30. Bibb County schools follow on Aug. 4, with Monroe County Schools set to start shortly after.
Here’s a list of some upcoming community giveaways in the area.
Bibb County
When: July 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: 5263 Bloomfield Road
What: The Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Macon is hosting its annual Back to School Bash, providing free clothes and complimentary school supplies while they last. Children must be present for items.
When: July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon
Where: U Create Macon Innovation Center at 1065 Anthony Road
What: Macon mother Tonora Jones is hosting the 10th and final school drive in honor of her daughter Ta’Shuntis “Tootie” Roberts, who died from gun violence in 2015. This drive-thru-style event will provide free school supplies. Children must be present with a parent or guardian to receive supplies.
When: July 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Where: U Create Macon Innovation Center at 1065 Anthony Road
What: In collaboration with several community partners, the Humanitarian Gang Inc. will host its third annual Back-to-school Drive-thru Giveaway. The organization will give away free bookbags and supplies until they last. Children must be present to receive a bookbag.
Forrest B. Johnson & Associates
When: July 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Beulahland Bible Church at 1010 Newberg Ave.
What: In conjunction with Walmart, Forrest B. Johnson & Associates is hosting its Annual Back2School Bash. The event will have food and free school supplies while they last.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Georgia
When: July 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: The Buck Melton Center at 150 Sessions Drive
What: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia will be giving away 500 bookbags, as well as free school supplies and food. This Back to School Bash will be hosted by Miracle Houses, Inc.
USW Back to School Community Giveaway
When: July 26 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: 1038 Guy Paine Road
What: Local union groups for United Steelworkers, including Local 9008 representing Kumho Tire workers in Macon, will sponsor a community event to distributed bookbag and school supplies, as well as free food.
When: July 26 at noon
Where: Bentley and Sons Funeral Home at 2714 Montpelier Ave.
What: Macon-Bibb Chief Coroner Leon Jones is hosting his annual school supply giveaway, featuring free bookbags and and supplies. In an online post, Jones said additional book bags will be distributed at another location, M&M Towing & Recovery at 1950 Emery Highway.
Bibb County Schools PBIS Back-to-School Bash Drivethru
When: Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Where: Ed DeFore Sports Complex at 2851 Heath Road
What: The Bibb County School District Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports is hosting its eighth annual Back-to-School Bash event featuring free school supplies, free school uniform shirts, community resources and more. The purpose of this back-to-school event is to decrease the number of students who are absent on the first days of school by removing barriers from families.
Community Back to School Giveback
When: Aug. 2
Where: Pearls Venue at 3804 Pio Nono Ave.
What: Local Black-owned businesses are sponsoring the Back to School Giveback community event, which will give away bookbags, school supplies and uniforms while supplies last. Hairstylists and barbers will be on-site, according to the event’s organizer. Food and drinks will also be provided. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
G-Ryderz MC Back-to-School Supply Drive
When: Aug. 2, starting at 10 a.m.
Where: Carolyn Crayton Park at 150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive
What: The G-Ryderz, a local motorcycle club in Macon, will host its school supply drive for youth at the Carolyn Crayton Park until supplies last.
When: Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Abundant Life Church at 630 Wimbish Road
What: The Abundant Life Church in Macon will host a community event, looking to bless 500 students with free school supplies, free food and more. Volunteers can sign up online to help facilitate the event.
Convoy of Hope Back to School Giveaway 2025
When: July 26 starting at 10 a.m.
Where: Middle Georgia Industrial Park at 2525 Pio Nono Ave.
What: In partnership with Hope for the Heart of Georgia, nonprofit organization Convoy of Hope will serve the community through free groceries, free shoes, free school supplies and more. The event will also feature free health screenings, live music and a kids zone.
Houston County
The Salvation Army of Warner Robins
When: July 11 at 2 p.m.
Where: The Salvation Army at 96 Thomas Boulevard
What: The Salvation Army of Warner Robins will be distributing free school supplies until they last on site.
Georgia Kinship Project Back to School Bash
When: July 26, starting at 4 p.m.
Where: 1040 S. Houston Lake Road
What: The Georgia Kinship Project will host its fifth Annual Back to School Bash at the Southside Baptist Church Community Center. The organization is providing school supplies and backpacks to children. This is a pre-registered event and the children receiving school supplies must be in attendance.
Peach County
Peach Co. Stuff the Bus School Supply Giveaway
When: July 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m
Where: Peach County Health Department at 503 Bluebird Boulevard
What: Services and giveaways will include immunizations, free haircuts, free 3231 forms, free food, and 200 backpacks filled with school supplies.
USW Back to School Community Giveaway
When: July 19 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: South Beach Park at 200 Murray Road. The event will take place at the pavilion by the tennis court.
What: United Steelworkers Local 572 representing Blue Bird in Fort Valley will give away bookbags filled with school supplies and free grilled food. All students are welcome.
Hunt Educational & Cultural Center
When: July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon
Where: The Hunt Educational & Cultural Center Gym at 600 Spruce St.
What: The Hunt Educational & Cultural Center is hosting its Back to School Bash and Community Fun Day event. There will be school supplies, games, resources and more for local families.
