School is almost out in Macon. What to know about summer camps in Middle Georgia
Summer break is around the corner, and families across Middle Georgia are beginning to map out their plans. For many, that means finding the right program for their children while school’s on pause.
Schools, recreation departments and local organizations in Macon and Warner Robins are hosting a wide range of summer programs that offer activities from outdoor adventures to academic enrichment.
The county-by-county guide below highlights available camps, key dates, costs and where to register. With many programs filling up quickly, families are encouraged to start planning sooner rather than later.
Bibb County
BSO Outreach Section Summer Camp: Registration is now open for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office P.A.L. Basketball Skills Camp. The free program is open to youth ages 9 to 17. Camp capacity is limited for this first-come, first-serve event. Contact the department at 478-803-2710.
Brad Ruzzo Soccer Camp: Registration is open for Mercer University’s full-week summer soccer programs, which will run from June 2 to June 6 and June 9 to June 13. Children from ages five to 14 are eligible to apply. Visit the organization’s website for pricing information.
Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation 2025 Summer Camp: The Bibb County Recreation Department is hosting a six-week program for children ages 5 to 15. The camp will run from June 2 to July 11, lasting from 7:30 a.m to 6:00 p.m. Activities include martial arts, yoga, arts and crafts and more. The cost is $180 per child. This year, it will be free for campers to swim at the recreation centers that have pools.
Macon-Bibb Recreation Tennis Summer Camp: Macon-Bibb County Recreation is also hosting two tennis camps at the Randy Stephens Tennis and John Drew Smith Tennis centers for children ages five through 14 to learn new skills and stay active. Otis Redding Center for the Arts: Youth from ages 12 to 18 can grow as musicians and find their voices at the three-week Otis Music Camp that will occur from June 2 to June 21. Roberts Academy Literacy Quest Summer Camp: The Roberts Academy at Mercer University is hosting a two-week academic enrichment program during June to boost students’ reading confidence. Any struggling readers, including students who do not attend the academy, can attend the Literacy Quest camp after completing a required literacy screening. KidCam 2025 Summer Camp: Registration is now open for students ages 5 through 13 to attend KidCam Camp at the Middle Georgia University from May 27 to July 25, lasting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youth will be engaged in activities ranging from arts to sports and water play. Mercer’s High School Camp 2025: Mercer University is offering four computer science camps this summer that will educate high school students on topics such as artificial intelligence and cyber security. Each camp costs $49, and registration is required. Contact the university for more information.
St. Peter Claver Catholic School 2025 Camp Cougar: The SPCCS is hosting Camp Cougar, a summer camp that is open for all students in the community and surrounding areas regardless of being non-SPCCS affiliated. Students will engage in hands-on activities focused on science, technology, reading engineering, art and math. The registration deadline is May 5, and the registration fee costs $50. St. Joseph Catholic School “Summer Knights in the City” 2025 Camp: The St. Joseph Catholic School is offering a six-week summer course that contains cooking, petting zoo visits, camp olympics and more. Mount de Sales Academy 2025 Camp Cavalier: Middle Georgia youth are invited to attend Mount de Sales Academy’s Camp Cavalier, which will occur between May 27 and July 31. Houston County
Warner Robins Parks and Recreation: Warner Robins’ recreation department will have several summer tennis camp sessions between June 9 and July 17 for youth ages 7 through 15. Northside High 2025 Basketball Camp: The Northside High School in Warner Robins will host a basketball camp for rising first to sixth graders to learn fundamentals of basketball and build their confidence on the court. Salvation Army summer camp: The Salvation Army of Warner Robins is now accepting applications for children ages 7 to 12 for one week of summer camp in Jasper.
