Macon church to hold tutorial for high school grad test

Macedonia Baptist Church in Macon is having a free Saturday tutorial session to help Bibb County high school students take the upcoming Georgia High School Graduation Test.

The session is from 9 a.m. to noon in the church’s Williams-Wilcher Fellowship Hall, 600 Eisenhower Parkway. A free lunch also will be provided.

The session is geared for high school juniors who will take the state mandated exam from March 23-26, and those students who need to retake the exam. State law requires high school students to pass all portions of the exam in order to get a high school diploma.

The Saturday session will focus on tips for passing the science and language arts portion of the exam but will help all students who need help in other subjects, said Cheryl Hitchcock, a church member and also Rutland High School’s graduation coach.

“We’ve got to help kids in the community get ready for this test,” she said. Church officials ask students to pre-register by Saturday to keep a lunch count. For more information call Macedonia at 750-0040 or Hitchcock at 779-3066.
