Bibb schools’ Curtis Jones among finalists for Georgia superintendent of the year

Bibb County schools Superintendent Curtis Jones is among four finalists for Georgia Superintendent of the Year.

The announcement was made Wednesday at the Georgia School Superintendents Association’s Fall Bootstrap Conference in Athens, according to a news release from Bibb schools.

The Georgia Superintendent of the Year winner will be announced in December at the Georgia School Boards Association winter conference in Atlanta. The winner will compete for National Superintendent of the Year, which will be announced in February 2019 at the AASA National Conference on Education in Los Angeles.

Jones, who started working for Bibb County schools in 2015, was named a finalist when he was superintendent for Griffin-Spalding County schools. The Bibb County Board of Education nominated him for the honor this year.

The other finalists this year are from Newton, Forsyth and Pike counties.
