Rutland students visit Macon’s sister city in Japan
Rutland High School students learned about Japanese culture during a weeklong trip in October. Fifteen students in the school’s International Studies program participated.
They spent some time in Tokyo before going to Kurobe, Macon’s sister city. Mayor Robert Reichert and other Macon-Bibb County officials visited Kurobe during the same time.
Students went to several schools, met with Kurobe government members, talked about the Bibb school district’s Victory in Progress mission, and attended a special dinner with the chief of education.
Rutland High and Kurobe schools have been partnering for student exchange trips since 2008. The families of Kurobe students who visited Macon in 2016 served as host families for the Rutland students during the recent trip.
