Monroe district names first REACH Scholars
The Monroe County district has named its first class of REACH Scholars. Monroe County Middle School students Trenton Casler, Johanna Tafolla, Hannah Colvard, Mackenzie Hancock and Johona Braswell recently signed contracts committing to the needs-based scholarship program.
REACH Georgia provides financial, social and academic support and mentoring to students. Scholars are selected in middle school and receive $10,000 for college if they have maintained all requirements upon their high school graduation. The students must keep up their grades, maintain good attendance and behavior, stay alcohol and drug free and regularly meet with their mentors.
