About 200 children with cancer and their families attended Jay’s HOPE Foundation’s private back-to-school bash at PinStrikes on July 25.

The Back to Schools Bash 4 Kids with Cancer from Jay’s HOPE Foundation was a striking success.

PinStrikes in Macon was closed to the public for two hours Tuesday night so 200 children with cancer and their families could be treated to some fun and games. Each child also received a $25 gift card to help with school supplies.

The private event made it possible for patients with compromised immune systems to attend, said Christie Johnson, Jay’s HOPE’s community relations coordinator. The sixth annual event was funded through grants from Navicent Health, the Perot Fiero Foundation and the TEGNA Foundation.

“We appreciate PinStrikes for being willing to help us kick off the school year in this way,” Johnson said.
