Elementary schools get new names

Baldwin County’s four elementary schools have been reorganized and renamed.

Creekside Elementary is changing to Lakeview Primary and will house kindergarten through second grade, and Eagle Ridge Elementary will become Lakeview Academy for third through fifth grades, according to a news release from the district.

Blandy Hills Elementary will be called Midway Hills Primary, for kindergarten through second grade, and Midway Elementary will be Midway Hills Academy for grades three through five.

“These name changes are in line with our recent grade level reconfiguration and gives us the opportunity for a fresh start with all of our elementary schools,” Superintendent Noris Price said in the press release.

The changes will be made in time for the start of the 2017-18 school year. The district relied on input from employees and community members when making these decisions.
