Scholarships awarded to 7 Bibb students in career and technical program

The Bibb County school district recently awarded scholarships to seven students in its Career, Technical and Agricultural Education program. The 2017 awards ceremony, held April 6 at Hutchings College and Career Academy, recognized one student from each county high school and Hutchings.

Hunter Fleenor of Howard High School won first place and a $1,500 scholarship; Janice Jackson of Southwest High won second place and $750; and Leyla Slappy of Northeast High took home third place and $300.

JaiQuia Wright of Central High, Landon Wright of Rutland High, Dexter Walker of Westside High and Jason Smith of Hutchings received $150 scholarships.

Students were evaluated on their grade point averages, participation in their Career Technical Student Organization, community service, written essays and interviews.
