Middle Georgia State kicks off Arts Festival on Monday
Middle Georgia State University kicks off its Arts Festival on Monday. The headlining event is an appearance April 3 by artist Dan Keplinger, who has cerebral palsy and paints using a brush that attaches to his head.
He was the subject of the 2000 Oscar-winning documentary short film “King Gimp” and also featured in a 2001 Super Bowl commercial. All Arts Festival events are free and open to the public. Here is this year’s lineup:
5:30 p.m. Monday: Screening of “King Gimp” in room 140 of the Arts Complex Theatre on the Macon Campus and also in room 130 of Dillard Auditorium on the Cochran Campus.
7 p.m. Tuesday: Poetry reading by Anya Silver at the Arts Complex Theater on the Macon Campus.
6 p.m. Wednesday: “Improvisation in Film-Making” lecture by Lauren Cater, assistant professor of Film Production at Middle Georgia State, in room 140 of the Arts Complex on the Macon Campus.
4 p.m. Thursday: Book-binding demo/interactive art class with Amy Pirkle in room 236A in the Arts Complex of the Macon Campus.
6:30 p.m. April 3: Dan Keplinger will discuss some of his work and have some pieces on display at the Peacock Gallery in Russell Hall on the Cochran Campus.
