Bernd Elementary recognized for parental involvement
Bernd Elementary in Macon is being recognized by the state for its parental involvement efforts. The school was among three in Georgia to win the Georgia Department of Education’s Parent Engagement Video Contest for 2015-16.
The video was created by Bibb County’s Title 1 Family Engagement Team, and Bernd students Harrison Munoz, Azaley Person and Savonta Luke. In the video, students talk about the role that parents and community members play in their education.
State school Superintendent Richard Woods will honor the school during a program there Nov. 10. November is Family Engagement Month in Georgia, and Nov. 17 is National Parent Involvement Day.
