Man accused of stealing tools, hiding them in bucket of drugs

The new guy on the job site was acting suspicious. Workers on a construction crew in the 100 block of Third Street in downtown Macon told the police that their tools started going missing about the time the guy showed up. As the July 21 incident played out, the workers kept seeing the guy, a 36-year-old from Warner Robins, with a green JanSport bookbag. The bag “would be moved around every few minutes,” a Bibb County sheriff’s report noted. The new guy, who was bald with tattoos on his arms, later told a sheriff’s deputy that he did in fact have a green book bag but didn’t know where it was. The deputy enlisted the workers to help him find it, and they did. The bag was stashed in a five-gallon paint bucket. Inside it were, among other tools, two electric drills, saw blades and wire cutters. Also in the bag were 28 individually wrapped dextroamphetamine pills and nine of what the deputy’s write-up described as “Xanax bars.” The new guy was taken to jail.
