‘Hell to pay!’ in unneighborly north Macon fray

Dispatches: There had already been “several confrontations” between neighbors at a north Macon apartment complex. When a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy went to deal with their latest clash on the evening of April 19, he learned that the disputes, mostly noise complaints, have been ongoing since July. The apartments are on Bowman Boulevard, tucked away near the intersection of Wesleyan Drive and Bowman Road. The people who called the cops live upstairs from a man who reportedly told a woman in their apartment that there would be “hell to pay!” It was not clear why the man might have said such a thing. The deputy went downstairs where the man lives. The man said a woman upstairs “had taken pictures of his daughter playing in the common area” outside their apartments, an incident report noted. “He said that he was angry because the lady upstairs had sent about 200 emails to the apartment managers complaining about his family and that he was tired of it.” The deputy’s write-up went on to say that the deputy cautioned the man “not to threaten the neighbors and maybe avoid speaking if they couldn’t get along.” . . . A shoplifter helped himself to a handful of treats at the Quick Serve mart on Rocky Creek Road in south Macon. A sheriff’s report about the May 12 theft said the suspect, described only as a man, may have been shopping for two. He made off with two bags of potato chips, two ice cream bars, two soft drinks, two packs of doughnuts and two candy bars. . . . Back in the middle of April, a man on Beech Avenue below Napier Avenue, a few blocks west of Pio Nono Avenue, told the police that someone broke into his shed and stole a lawn mower, a television and a grill. The man, 66, said he thinks his 55-year-old sister might be the culprit. “She’s the only one who breaks into the garage,” the man told the cops, “and we’ve had an ongoing problem with her stealing from the family.”
