Woman gorges on ill-gotten grapes at Macon supermarket

The suspect was described as an older woman, in her early 60s maybe, wearing a red wig, a purple shirt and black pants. She was something of a regular at the Save-A-Lot, a discount grocery store on Eisenhower Parkway in Macon, a quarter-mile or so west of Pio Nono Avenue. Shortly before noon on April 19, she was shopping there when a store employee noticed her doing something she had been warned several times not to do. She “always comes into the store and eats grapes while she shops,” a Bibb County sheriff’s report said. She would apparently grab a package of grapes from the produce department and munch on them while she cruised the aisles. This time, she also had bananas in tow. When the store worker “confronted her about the grapes,” the sheriff’s report went on, “she took the grapes and bananas and left the store without paying.”
