DUI suspect refuses sobriety test because of what ‘Momma’ taught him
A man driving a 2012 Chevy Impala was pulled over just south of downtown Macon the night of Nov. 1. He was near Ell and Second streets and he had allegedly failed to signal for a turn. There was white powder on his hands and nostrils, according to a Bibb County sheriff’s write-up. The man, whose eyes were bloodshot, said he’d had one drink. There was also said to be a small bag of marijuana in his pocket. A sheriff’s deputy asked the man, 32, if he would submit to a blood test. According to the deputy’s report, the man “told me that he didn’t understand, and that his Momma told him not to do anything he didn’t understand.” Upon refusing the test, the man was jailed on DUI and drug charges.
