Victim identified; suspect arrested in Warner Robins motel killing

One man is dead and another charged with murder after a shooting at a Warner Robins motel early Wednesday.

Just after 4:15 a.m., Warner Robins police were called to the Executive Inn at 2079 Watson Blvd.

D’Andre Nepoleon Willis, 52, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a Warner Robins police news release. He was shot three times.

Artis Christian Jones, 38, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with Willis’ slaying. Investigators believe a previous argument led to the shooting.

Authorities pulled over Jones near Peach Blossom and Feagin Mill roads and took his vehicle to be examined for evidence.

Back at the motel, crime scene technicians created a 3-D image of the hotel parking lot to assist investigators in the case.

The shooting happened near Room 237 where a coffee table was pulled out onto the sidewalk. A half-empty bag of chips and an ashtray were on top of the table. Willis was shot inside a motel room, according to the release.

A couple of doors down, a bag of beer cans was sitting outside another door.

The killing happened across the street from the Budget Inn where Donell Hawkins was shot and killed month.

Warner Robins police Chief Brett Evans said there was no reason to suspect the killings were related.

Telegraph writer Laura Corley contributed to this report.
