Church’s chicken robbed on Macon’s Georgia Avenue
Two men with guns held workers at gunpoint as they robbed a Macon fast food restaurant after closing Thursday night.
Just after 10:30 p.m., the gunmen tapped on the glass windows of Church’s Chicken at 1425 Georgia Ave., which is not far from the on-ramp to Interstate 75 north.
A female employee unlocked the door and one of the gunmen jumped the counter and ordered a worker in the kitchen to lie on the floor, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The other gunman took the cellphone of the woman at the door and ordered her to the back of the store, the release said. A third worker was pushed to the floor and held at gunpoint while the woman was forced to open the safe.
The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money from the safe and two cash registers and ran away toward Monroe Street.
They are described as slender, young, black males. One was wearing all black clothing and a black T-shirt covering his face and the other had on an army fatigue ski mask; a black, white and gray jacket and black pants.
Anyone with information regarding this matter is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
