Cash, cigarettes stolen in west Macon stickup
Images of two men who held up a west Macon discount store were captured by a surveillance camera, and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with identifying them.
The two bandits walked inside the 99 Cent Store on Columbus Road about 5:30 p.m. on May 19, according to a Thursday news release from the sheriff’s office. One of the men propped the front door open while the other, toting a blue backpack, walked up to the counter and asked for a pack of cigarettes. As the clerk reached for the cigarettes, the man holding the door open ran behind the counter and pointed a gun at the clerk. He demanded the money in the register, the release said.
The clerk gave the men the money and cigarettes, which they stuffed inside the back pack before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction, the release said.
Anyone who recognizes the clothing or the suspects is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or call Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
