Macon man arrested after two high-speed chases
A Macon man faces at least 15 traffic offenses after two recent high-speed chases through Bibb County.
Silvester Renarde Brewer, 41, was arrested Monday and is being held on a bond of $31,205, according to Bibb County jail records.
Warrants accuse Brewer of blaring loud music while failing to stop at a red light before turning right and driving with blue-colored lights in the rims of a silver Nissan Altima when he fled from the Georgia State Patrol on May 15.
He allegedly was travelling at speeds of 92 mph in a 35 mph zone.
On May 19, just before 5:30 a.m. as Macon was deluged with heavy rain, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies chased the same vehicle, which failed to stop on Atlantic Avenue at Napier Avenue.
“He’s throwing stuff out all over the place,” a deputy reported on the radio.
Once on Mercer University Drive, the car reached speeds of 100 mph, according to the report.
A deputy laid stop sticks on the pavement near Log Cabin Drive, but the driver dodged them.
The deputy pursued down Columbus Road to Harrison Road, onto Eisenhower Parkway to Chambers Road in blinding rain before losing the vehicle.
Another deputy spotted the glowing blue rims around Williamson Road and Pio Nono before the car disappeared somewhere off Newberg Avenue and Hollis Road.
“I’ll say this: He’s a really good driver,” the deputy remarked on the scanner to other officers looking for the vehicle.
Investigators suspected the unlicensed Brewer was running because of his probation on a prior burglary charge.
Brewer was picked up at his house on Greenfield Road on Friday, according to the report, but the jail file indicates he was charged Monday.
