Meth, cash seized in Monroe County traffic stop
Thousands of dollars and several ounces of methamphetamine were seized by a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from the office’s page.
When a deputy stopped a car on Rumble Road for a traffic violation, the driver and passenger seemed to be unusually nervous, according to the post. When the deputy checked out the driver’s name, it was discovered the man had an active warrant for his arrest and was driving on a suspended license.
The deputy’s K-9 partner indicated there were drugs near the passenger door, which resulted in a search of the car. About 6.2 ounces of methamphetamine and $7,900 in cash were seized from the car, the post said.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and charged with trafficking meth as well as related traffic offenses. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office did not release on Wednesday the names of the two people charged.
