Man shot in leg at Macon gas station
A 45-year-old man was shot in the leg at a Macon gas station Wednesday evening after an argument with another man.
Richard Smith was shot in both of his legs just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot at Melody Magic Mart on Rocky Creek Road, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith was outside the store near the gas pumps and walked over to a dark colored Dodge Charger that had pulled into the parking lot, according to the release. Smith engaged in a conversation with the suspect in the Charger, 23-year-old Zikeil Ruff, which led to verbal altercation.
Ruff allegedly shot Smith before fleeing the scene in the Charger. The news release describes Ruff as a black man weighing about 210 pounds and is 6 feet 2 inches tall.
Smith was taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
