Fort Valley burglary suspect recaptured
The suspect in a Fort Valley burglary was recaptured Monday, a day after his escape in which a police officer sustained a broken leg.
Kevin Lamar Adams, 25, of Marshallville, was taken into custody without incident by Fort Valley and Marshallville police.
Fort Valley police Officer Danesha Moore’s leg was broken in Adams’ escape.
About 4:50 a.m. Sunday, a burglar alarm sounded at the Kings Deli at 325 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Fort Valley police officers obtained pictures of the suspect with tools in hand from surveillance cameras and also noticed images of him inside the store, police said.
The man, later identified by police as Adams, who was wearing a light-colored shirt, dark pants and a baseball cap, was found a short time later after a lookout was posted.
An officer was taking him to the police department for a fingerprint scan when he managed to escape. They were going from the back ramp to the booking area, according to a news release on the department’s Facebook page.
Moore was taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, where she is in stable condition, Fort Valley Public Safety Director Lawrence Spurgeon said Monday.
A bulletin was circulated among local law enforcement agencies, and officers from the Peach County Sheriff’s Office and Warner Robins Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Fort Valley police at 478-825-3383.
