Credit union in Medical Center robbed Friday afternoon

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a robbery at the Central Georgia Credit Union inside the Medical Center, Navicent Health on Friday afternoon.

An unidentified man entered the credit union’s lobby about 1:40 p.m. and told the teller he needed to make a deposit, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. When the teller told him he needed to fill out a deposit slip, the man showed the teller an envelope demanding money, the release said. The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and he fled on foot toward Cotton Avenue and Poplar Street.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot black male with a medium complexion. He has stubble or scruffy facial hair and appeared to be in his late 40s or early 50s, the release said. At the time of the robbery, the man was described as wearing a dark cap, a white Atlanta Falcons T-shirt, dark long pants, and blue and silver sneakers.
